2018 Sentinel

2018 Sentinel
Milbrandt

Overlooked by the Sentinel Gap, our Wahluke Slope vineyards in Eastern Washington produce exceptional fruit from low-yielding vines at our Northridge Vineyard. These vines, thriving in ancient soils above the glacial flood line, create our Sentinel, a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant Bordeaux blend. This vintage, true to Sentinel style, is dry and full-bodied, with complex layers of black currant, black cherry, and toasted oak. The initial palate impression is intense, revealing a concentrated body and rich tannin structure, finishing powerfully with dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, anise, and vibrant black cherry flavors.

When I had my interview at Milbrandt, I was given a tiny sip of the 2018 Sentinel to try. I immediately fell in love. There is notes of blackberry, black currant, and subtle tobacco note that sophisticates the whole experience. At the end, you find a smooth dark chocolate finish. If they had told me that I was going to be paid in this wine I would've accepted it is that good.

This is the best red blend that I have ever had. It is smooth and complex it goes with everything. Cab, Malbec, Merlot, you can’t go wrong with this one.
